The Depot is my favorite summer spot in the area. The laid back ambiance and its location are what make it so special- after all, how many restaurants can boast that they are located right next to 'live' train tracks?
Depending on where you are seated, this could be a casual, touristy experience or more romantic (if seated inside).
The outdoor seating area is spacious and casual- you will never feel cramped at a small table or rushed. What makes this outdoor area so unique is it sits adjacent to Metro North train tracks...and yes, the tracks are live. Every 15-20 minutes trains will pass- either during their stop at Cold Spring station or the occasional Amtrak speeding by. Even though I commute daily on MNR, it's pretty cool to see/hear a train pass you from 30 feet away. I've yet to see someone not smile when a train passes...including myself
The menu offers typical pub food with a few exceptions. The tuna tartare is my favorite item on the menu- I get it every time I go here. Raw tuna stacked with chives and avocado, with a drizzling of soy sauce... so delicious and refreshing! The bang bang shrimp and Asian chicken salad are really good, as are the burgers.
I brought my boyfriend here this summer and he enjoyed it so much that we went back the following week. The food and unique atmosphere of The Depot make me a repeat customer.
